WHO IS Greyhounds Aussie Style ?
Hello, my name is Deb and I am the creator of all the crafts that you will see in these pages.

I have always been interested in different crafts since I was a small child starting with French knitting (using the old wooden cotton reel & nails). Then when I was a big girl, I graduated to using real knitting needles under Mum's watchful eye.

Then crocheting was the name of the game. I used to sit down with my Nana & she would help me learn the different stitches (getting myself into plenty of knots that were not supposed to be there) but still having a good time. I was very proud of my first doily & had to show it off to everyone who came to the door.

Over the years I have indulged in macramé (more knots), cottage arts & crafts, handmade soaps & candles and of course ceramics & now egg decorating.

I have been involved with ceramics for about 20 years producing some beautiful gifts and some not so beautiful. Just the other day I placed a Balinese lady in the kiln for her glaze firing and she went off with a
!!! bang !!!   into hundreds of little pieces - as I said “some not so beautiful”.

MY PASSION FOR THE GREYHOUNDS
My love of greyhounds started only 10 years ago when I was helping a friend at feed time.

She convinced me that I was not on their menu so I went into one of the yards to meet this beautiful loving creature.

We played & had lots of cuddles. Guess what? - I was hooked!

Over the years I have had a few greyhounds of my own which are trained by my friend - not quick - but very loveable.

My first greyhound (my best friend) was a very small 23kg little girl called Mitsy. At her first race start people said they were there to see the “Whippet” run, but she had the last laugh when she won that day.

It was a shame she couldn't do it more often but she couldn't understand why she bounced off the bigger dogs when they came into contact during a race. Mitsy has now retired and has a lovely home here in Brisbane, Australia where she has a new playmate - a Golden Retriever called Tiger. They are really great mates & have heaps of fun together. One day last winter someone left the gate open at her new home, & of course Mitsy was off like a rocket. She wasn't hard to find though because she was wearing her new winter rug hot pink with black paw prints all over it that I had made for her.

Ever since I had Mitsy I was always looking for greyhound figurines, but had a very hard time finding quality products, so I decided to make my own.
